I'm running for the 2-year seat on City Council, where I’ll serve as liaison to the Parks Department and advocate for a stronger, more affordable Bradford—starting with real conversations about lowering our high property taxes.
I’m Mark Young, and I’m running for The City of Bradford Council because I believe in a city that works for everyone. Here’s a little more about me:

I served in the United States Air Force for 8 years, where I learned the value of discipline, teamwork, and service to others.
I’m a small business owner and entrepreneur, and I’ve spent my career solving problems that help communities grow. And I've been bringing that expertise to Bradford since 2024.
I believe in hard work, honesty, integrity and most of all transparency, and I’m committed to making Bradford a place where everyone can thrive.
I’m a proud husband and father, and I’m committed to building a better future for my family and yours.
I’m passionate about giving back to my community and making a positive impact on the world around me. And I'm even more passionate about giving back to Bradford.
I believe in a brighter future for Bradford where there is more opportunity and wealth, and I won't stop working hard to make that vision a reality.

As a candidate for Bradford City Council, I’m committed to the following priorities:
Bradford’s parks are at the heart of our community—and I’m committed to making them better. As your Council liaison to the Parks Department, I’ll work to protect and improve these spaces so they serve everyone, now and into the future.
Our parks are more than just green spaces—they’re where our community gathers, kids play, and neighbors connect. As liaison to the Parks Department, I’m committed to making Bradford’s parks cleaner, safer, and more inviting for everyone.
That means pursuing grants and partnerships to improve and maintain our parks without increasing the burden on taxpayers. It means involving the community in clean-up days, new programming, and decision-making. And it means seeing our parks not just as city assets—but as a core part of Bradford’s future.
When our public spaces thrive, our city thrives. I’ll work to make sure our parks reflect the pride we have in our community.
Bradford’s nearly 4% property tax rate is one of the highest in Pennsylvania—while the average income is only $29,1501. High taxes are making it harder for families to own homes, small businesses to thrive, and new residents to choose Bradford.
While I won’t have direct control over tax policy in my Council role, I believe in using my voice—and my vote—to push for responsible, community-backed solutions. That starts with open dialogue, real transparency, and a plan that works for all of us.
Lowering taxes won’t be easy, but it is possible. With careful budgeting, outside grant funding, and smart growth, we can begin to relieve the burden on residents while protecting essential services.
I’m committed to starting that conversation—and keeping it going.

Bradford won’t change without us—all of us. It’s going to take a united effort and a renewed sense of ownership to bring our city back to life.
Bradford is facing real challenges—but we also have real potential. To move forward, we need more than ideas—we need a community-wide commitment to action. That means listening to each other, showing up, and working side by side to take care of the town we all call home.
Whether it’s tackling high property taxes, revitalizing our neighborhoods, or making the most of our parks and public spaces, we can’t fix Bradford alone—we have to do it together. That kind of change takes renewed energy, shared vision, and a belief that our city’s best days are still ahead.
Let’s reconnect. Let’s reimagine. Let’s rebuild Bradford—together.
We can’t build a better Bradford without investing in the systems that hold it together. Let’s modernize the city in a way that works for everyone—affordable, thoughtful, and future-focused.
Fixing Bradford’s infrastructure isn’t just about roads and pipes—it’s about building a foundation for the future. Our city’s aging systems need attention, but we also need to think bigger: how do we invest in infrastructure in a way that supports growth, improves quality of life, and respects the financial realities our residents face?
That means pursuing grants, partnerships, and creative planning to upgrade what’s broken without placing the full cost on taxpayers. It means improving walkability, safety, and access. And it means making sure every dollar spent is a step toward a more livable, connected Bradford.
Infrastructure should serve the people—not the other way around.
Bradford can’t thrive without strong local businesses—and they can’t thrive without support. Let’s create a city that backs its entrepreneurs and rewards the people investing in our future.
Bradford’s small businesses are the heartbeat of our community. They create jobs, bring life to our streets, and keep money circulating right here at home. But too many are struggling under the weight of high costs, aging infrastructure, and a shrinking customer base.
We need to make it easier—not harder—for people to start, grow, and sustain a business in Bradford. That means lowering barriers, improving foot traffic, and fostering a business-friendly environment that encourages innovation and local investment. It also means listening to our entrepreneurs and making sure their voices are at the table as we shape Bradford’s future.
If we want a vibrant, thriving city, it starts by investing in the people building it every day.
